Joint trip for the whole school
Spain and Gibraltar
The study tours are an important part of the school year. They have three main focuses: Culture and country knowledge, community and line-related activities. In recent years, we have been on a joint study trip to Southern Europe.
Here we visit the Andalucia area, and are based near the town of Rota. Here we will have both different plans and joint activities. There is the possibility of surfing, Frisbee golf, charming cycle tours and plans with the beach as a starting point. We also make time to visit the historic city of Seville and the British territory of Gibraltar.
The joint trip is included in the school fees. This means that on trips only pocket money is added. On joint trips, there will be activities and schemes across lines and this means a lot for the social community. Departure in the autumn semester.
Sports Extreme Australia
Australia and Thailand
Sport Extreme Australia is traveling on a 4-week trip to Australia and Thailand in the spring term. The aim of the study tour is to learn about other cultures and cultural differences, while at the same time practicing and challenging ourselves in extreme sports activities.
In Thailand, we travel around, from north to south, and get to know the country and its history a little. Among other things, we travel to a orphanage in Chiang Rai which is one of our aid projects at the school. Here we hear about the work they do, as well as that we spend time doing activities and playing with the children who live there.
IN Chiang Mai we visit, among other things cycling, bungee jumping and other cultural experiences. Then we travel from Bangkok to southern Thailand, where most of the time will be spent on water activities. Here we will finish the Padi Open Water diving label. There are many exciting fish to see and if you are lucky you will spot a turtle or shark.
In Australia the main focus is surfing. We are going on a 4 day surf camp to Lake Tabourie. We get to experience Australia's fine beaches and, among other things, see kangaroo. Most of the time we are in Wollongong, a city a little south of Sydney. We spend the time on training, the trampoline park and tandem parachute jump. Among other things, plans are made for day trips to Sydney, meeting with the indigenous people and time to being together.

Australia and selected countries in Asia
Travel-see-experience are important keywords on the line. You get to experience unique things on trips in the local area, in Norway and on long trips to Australia and Asia. As a student, you help plan some of the things we will do on the trip!
Study trip 4 weeks to Australia and Asia:
IN Australia can we visit Sydney, go skydiving, travel into the desert and watch the sunrise over Uluru/Ayers Rock, surf at Bondi Beach, experience the west coast, snorkelling, learn about the country's history and meet locals who tell their stories, see kangaroos and just enjoy life down under.
IN Asia we go to markets, visit local organizations, travel out to local communities, visit temples and local holy places and get to know new cultures better while tasting delicious food and enjoying a warmer climate. From before have Thailand or Vietnam have been our main destinations in Asia. At school we collect money for the orphanage Baan Chivit Mai which is located in northern Thailand, and a highlight of the trip is getting to visit them.
Outdoor life – fjord and mountains
Norway
Friluftslivlinja will be on tour a lot during the folk high school year. There will be short and longer trips with accommodation. In addition, the line has three larger trips of one week's duration during the year. Get ready to explore the mountains like you've never done before!
In the autumn, we start with a week of glacier courses at Smørstabreen. We camp in tents and learn safe driving on glaciers, while at the same time experiencing parts of the majestic Jotunheimen. The highlight of the trip is a comprehensive glacier course, where experienced instructors will guide you through all aspects of glacier travel. You will learn about guiding on glaciers, camera rescue, safety, rescue techniques, orientation in the high mountains, first aid and snow slope techniques. This is a hands-on experience that gives you valuable skills for future outdoor experiences. As part of the course, you will also take part in exciting summit tours in the area, including traverses and climbing in exposed terrain until you reach one of Norway's highest peaks, Storebjørn, and here awaits an unforgettable view of Jotunheimen's peaks.
Autumn is beautiful in the mountains and offers many opportunities. Tour two in the autumn is a week at Dovre where we aim to reach the top of Snøhetta. There is a rich flora and fauna that we hope to experience. Perhaps we will see the muskox at Dovre.
In the winter, we use time to prepare for a week's ski trip with sleds. The trip we are planning will take place in one of the national parks in Trøndelag the week before Easter. Accommodation will take place in tents and cabins.
Gaming Active
Australia
Study trip to Australia 14 days.
In the spring semester, Bakketun travels out into the world, and Gaming Bakketun is going to Australia to catch the end of the wonderful Australian summer! Here, among other things, we will ride waves on the surfboard along one of the world's most beautiful coastlines. We will feel the thrill of gorge walking in ancient river formations and abseiling down waterfalls of up to 30 meters in the Blue Mountains.
You will have the opportunity to experience Sydney, and together we will travel up the coastline until we reach one of the planet's most complex ecosystems - the Great Barrier Reef. Here we will be freediving and there are many exciting fish to see - if you are lucky you will spot a turtle or shark.
We will seek out kangaroos and learn about the diverse landscape and rich cultural heritage Australia has to offer. This will be a trip of a lifetime about learning, growing, taking a step out of your comfort zone and embarking on an adventure you will never forget.
Norwegian Adventurers
Norway
Class excursion in Norway for 3 weeks, where we will visit both coastlines with fjords and coastal culture, and Norwegian mountain airs in autumn and wintertime. We will plan the trip together in the class in the lectures.
During the journey we will focus on language, culture and history, together with a lot of exiting activities and experiences.

VanLife
Road trip the Nordics
When we have finished building our cars, we go on trips together. Here we take our new knowledge about compact living and put it into practice. For 14 days we are traveling through the Nordic region.
With a rolling home, we first travel down to Denmark, then via Malmö into Sweden and slowly up towards Stockholm. From Stockholm we do a day trip to Helsinki and then drive up through Sweden and then visit Åre before returning home.
The details and the plan day by day can be laid down and influenced by the class. Since the trip takes place in a cold part of the year, we also include a few nights in hostels to make the trip manageable.

The study tour in the spring goes to the legendary New York - the city that never sleeps. New York is a city of culture with experiences and opportunities around every corner and which both sets and captures various trends in the world. You get to experience the best the city has to offer in terms of culture, such as performances in various genres and musicals on Broadway. We are inspired by people who have a personal story to tell, and who in one way or another work to convey this in various social media.
New York has a lot of everything - from famous museums, well-known parks and buildings, good shopping opportunities, an enormous art and cultural life and food from all corners of the world. Here there is something for every taste. We will get to know the city and here you will experience the places you have seen in well-known and beloved films and series. A bike ride in Central park, experience the city skyline from a boat deck or experience the view of the entire city from one of Manhattan's tallest skyscrapers... The possibilities are endless! We know the city well and can therefore take you to things that are not so easy to do on your own.

London and New York
London:
In the autumn, the line trip goes to London - a city with everything and endless experience possibilities for music, sound and theatre.
This is a trip that kickstarts the school year and gives us inspiration and motivation within our subject areas. It is also a great opportunity to get to know each other well, have new and great experiences together. The musical city of London offers over 150 theaters and we will experience world-class musicals & theatre. A creative city with many opportunities within stage subjects and we will take a closer look at these, perhaps you are curious about all the study opportunities for music, sound and theater in London? Or maybe you want to go to a live concert? Have you dreamed of a double-decker red bus? The possibilities are many…
We are well known in London and are ready to give you a trip that will give you memories for a lifetime and a good start to your year at folk high school.
New York:
In the spring, the line travels on a study trip to legendary New York - the city that never sleeps. New York is a cultural city with experiences and opportunities around every corner. We are inspired by people who have a personal story to tell; It can e.g. be young people trying to realize their dreams within, music, theater and sound.
Students majoring in music and sound can create a music video based on self-written songs, and if you are a theater student you get the opportunity to be an actor in this music video recorded in New York.

Arts and crafts
Morocco
In the 2024/25 school year, the Handicrafts line is planning a study trip to Morocco.
In the past, the trip has gone to Marrakesh, southwest of Morocco, which offers fantastic cultural and human encounters. At the large market Djemaa El Fna we can meet a teeming life of snake charmers, jugglers, monkeys, musicians - a bit like walking in Aladdin's footsteps!
We have had place of residence close to Djemaa El Fna, in the old Medina, where we could wander for hours in a labyrinth of streets, filled with wonderful crafts and sensory impressions. The workshops lie side by side in the narrow streets; the shoemaker who works in the most incredible colours, jewelery and lamps in metal is sawn, hammered and shaped. Here we have also done some work ourselves, and let ourselves be inspired for further work back at school.
We have visited the potters who live in a village a little outside the city centre. Here we have seen how they make the most incredible ceramic mosaic tiles by hand, and we have learned, among other things, how to fire clay in a gas oven. We have also visited Project Soar, who works for the position of girls in the local community, in a country where the road to equality is still a long way to go.
The meals ours we have most often eaten on one of the city's countless roof terraces, where food made in Tajine is the specialty, which we learn more about on cooking courses. The Atlas Mountains and the Berber city of Imlil has also been a highlight, literally. We first ride dromedaries in the desert, before we ride donkeys up into the mountains together with local guides. approx. 1200 m
