Project subjects

During the year you will have four weeks of project courses – divided into three periods. Here you choose one of six courses that give you the opportunity to delve into something you are passionate about, test out future career paths or prepare for exams. The courses are both practical and academically oriented, and provide experiences that you can take with you later in life.

Sports and outdoor life - certification

Here, activity, nature and leadership training are combined. You gain experience in planning and implementing sessions for children and young people, and learn how to create mastery and sports enjoyment in others. In addition, you can take various courses and certifications – such as a wet certificate (sea kayaking), a steep certificate in climbing or a glacier course. The project subject gives you both the competence and self-confidence to lead others in activities.

Introduction to safety and emergency preparedness

Through meetings with police, fire brigade, security guards and healthcare personnel, you will gain a realistic insight into emergency response work. You will learn how to cooperate in demanding situations, try out exercises in first aid, search and rescue – and receive security guard training with the opportunity to take an exam if you wish. This project subject is well suited for those who are curious about professions with responsibility and excitement, and who like to make a difference.

Cultural field

This is the course for those who want to express themselves creatively – whether through art, design, text, music or photography. You will receive guidance and time to develop your own projects, and we emphasize presentation and documentation. The goal is for you to leave with something you can show off, whether it is a concert, an exhibition or a published publication. It is about finding and strengthening your own expression.

Take up subjects

Combine your folk high school year with improving your high school grades. Two of the project periods are placed close to the exam dates, so you have plenty of time to read and prepare. You get peace and structure in your school life, with guidance from your teacher and a positive study environment around you – while being part of all the social and creative things at Bakketun.
