Ingeborg on Scene Studio Turnè: - I needed a year without grade pressure, and at the same time to do something I think is fun
Ingeborg is happy that she chose to attend Bakketun Folkehøgskole for a year.
I chose to go for a year at folk college because I needed a year without any pressure when it came to achievements and grades. I also wanted to keep doing something I thought was fun, and then folk college is a very good offer, says Ingeborg Bergem.
I chose Bakketun because they had a line I was interested in, and the values of the school were things I could stand for. In addition, Bakketun is an incredibly nice school with beautiful buildings, and it really stood out from the other schools I looked at, she says.
A year with a focus on music
I chose music because it was something I wanted to learn more about. I had previous experience with singing and sound engineering, and this seemed like a place where I could develop myself further within the subject.
The subjects on the line are very rewarding. It is set up in a way that allows us to try new things within a safe framework. We have good teachers who are happy to help us if we wonder about anything extra, and they really make the online classes something to look forward to, she says.
The year has made me more confident
My year at Bakketun has made me much safer socially. I have become much more confident in myself and what I mean, and I am able to stand up for myself much more than I did before. The teachers have really helped me with my professional development, and they have set it up so that I feel confident in trying new things. I have also made incredibly good friends here, and there are many I will keep in touch with later in life, says Ingeborg.
Feel good at Folkehøgskole
The environment at the school is very good. It doesn't matter who you sit with, because here everyone can talk to everyone. People are very supportive of each other, and there has only been more and more unity throughout the year. We are very happy to cheer each other on.
Tip for those about to start at Bakketun: Join the social activities that are organised! It's a fantastic way to get to know each other better, and you often get to know better those you don't always talk to that much. And if there are things you want to try during the year, do it! There are few places that are as safe and supportive as community colleges.
Highlights from the year
My best experience from this year so far has to be the tour. It was very rewarding to show what we had worked on up until then, and we in the class got even better at working together. We had a lot of fun the whole tour, and getting to see how the other folk colleges were doing was also fun.
On our study tour we went to New York, which was great fun. We did several different things, but my favorites were the times we were on Broadway. They were incredibly good, and we were always inspired and happy after the shows. You also have to mention Times Square when you're in New York, and it was also very nice to walk together in Central Park.
Our joint trip went to Spain, and we had a lot of fun there. We went to several nice places, including Rota and Seville, but our day trip to Gibraltar was absolutely fantastic. There we got to say hello to monkeys, go into a very beautiful cave, see an incredibly nice view and much more! It was very pleasant to walk around with the others, and we had a great time, says Ingeborg.
