Choice of project subjects
During the year, you choose one project subject from among 6 different options, with teaching and working hours of approx. 4 weeks divided into three periods during the school year. This gives you the opportunity to, for example, improve yourself in subjects or explore future careers.

Take up subjects
- time to prepare for exams in subjects you want to improve in.
In this subject, you can combine folkehoyskole with taking up subjects from Vgs. You get time for exam preparations, with a calm learning environment and reading support from the teacher, while at the same time you get to experience life at a community college.
The project course runs over three periods (four weeks in total), two of which are close to the exam date. You take the exam as a private person, but we assist with the practicalities.
Drone pilot
- Learn to fly a drone, understand the regulations and work towards certification to fly class A2 and A1/A3.
Do you dream of flying? Are you fond of taking pictures and filming? Do you want to tell stories through a camera? Are you curious about the opportunities that drones can provide in working life? Or fancy a new hobby? Then drone pilot is the profession for you!
In this subject, you will learn to drive a drone and gain insight into the regulations for use. We are also working towards you obtaining certification to fly in class A1/A3.
This way you are one step further on the road if your dream is to become a professional drone photographer or to bring a new hobby to life. During the project period, outdoor life is a theme and we focus on nature film and photography.
The films are finally edited and the results are fantastic films that you can put in your portfolio.
Sports and management

Here you will learn about having a leadership role in sports, activities and training for children and young people.
The leadership and coaching role
This topic gives you insight into what it means to be a good leader and coach in sports and activities. Through a grassroots leadership course, you learn about pedagogy, motivation and how you can organize for different age groups, within different sports. Throughout the school year, you will have the opportunity to use this course to lead and train local sports teams here in Verdal.
Sea kayak and wet card
Learn to master sea kayaking and get a wet license as proof of your skills. This topic gives you basic knowledge about paddling technique, safety on water and management of tour groups. Through practical exercises and a "hands-on" approach, you will become confident in leading kayak trips on the lake.
Glacier course in Jotunheimen
Experience Jotunheimen and its beautiful nature. Here you will learn about glaciers and safe travel in alpine terrain. This basic course focuses on techniques for moving safely on the glacier, rescue situations and provides knowledge on how to lead rope teams on the glacier.
Climbing recess
For those who want to take climbing to the next level, we offer a deepening in the subject of climbing and outdoor climbing. We learn about safety and rescue, how to rig top ropes and abseils and how to plan climbing trips. With a focus on practical experience and plenty of guidance, you will develop your skills and gain a deeper understanding of the many facets of climbing.

Introduction Preparedness and security
- insight into professions such as lifeguards, police, fire, health/ambulance, the armed forces etc.
Here you will be able to meet professionals in various preparedness and security professions, and gain an insight into a bit of their everyday working life. Perhaps it can help you find out more about whether this is a field of interest or a future career choice for you.
We go through the basic training that security guards have, with the option of an exam via the company Avarn Security.
Furthermore, we have, among other things, collaboration with the Red Cross, which can contribute with various courses in first aid and search/rescue.
Business establishment
– finances, business idea, student company, shop (e.g. reuse/redesign, online shop)
Many people have ideas that can be turned into a workplace. Here you get time to develop your own ideas, and perhaps you start with a dream this year that could become your workplace in the future.
In this subject we learn more about support schemes and application possibilities in the establishment phase, and gain an insight into prerequisites and regulations for good operations.
Cultural field
- possibility of own work with projects in art and culture.
Here you can explore your own cultural expression and present it through concerts, exhibitions or publications. The subject covers art, design, text, music, image/photo, and assumes that you have some prior knowledge.
Documentation will be important for the presentation of the finished product. We focus on making the product visible and being seen in the crowd.
