Welcome as a student at Bakketun Folkehøgskole!

We are incredibly happy to welcome you to Bakketun Folkehøgskole! You are facing an adventurous year filled with learning, exploration and personal growth. At our school, you will meet students from different backgrounds, all with a common goal to explore, learn and grow together.

Get to know our amazing teachers!

When you arrive at Bakketun, you will be greeted by this formidable gang! .. (a little more text here)..

Join the boarding school!

At Bakketun we have 2 boarding schools: *** and ***. The boarding schools are again divided into several housing units, where you live together with 8-12 other students. The housing units have a shared living room with living room and kitchen, and a shared bathroom (and wardrobe/hallway?).

When choosing a room, there are two things you must consider: do you want a single or double room, and do you want a private bathroom in the room or a shared bathroom in the hallway? Single rooms cost slightly more than double rooms, and a private bathroom costs more than a bathroom in the hallway.

(write a little more about bathrooms in the hallway, are there communal showers, for example, or privacy here? - how does this work in practice in relation to queuing?)

School place and living allowance

Confirmed school place:

The school place is confirmed when the student has accepted the offer and paid the registration fee. The acceptance
is binding from the time the appeal period expires, which is 14 days after the school place is
confirmed. If the student wishes to give up his place at the school after the cancellation period has expired, he will
the registration fee will not be refunded.

Living allowance

Living allowance is due in accordance with payment plan that will be sent out during June with. The payment plan
mostly follows payment from the Statens Lånekasse for education, with some displacement. Last
payment is normally on 15 April. Should problems arise in following the payment plan,
the student must inform the school as soon as possible so that a separate arrangement can be agreed for
payment. Without a payment agreement with the school, non-payment will be sent to debt collection and a reminder fee may be charged. Failure to pay subsistence allowance may result in the loss of
school place and participation in the school's study trips/excursions.

Pupils who leave during the school year, regardless of the reason, must pay subsistence allowance for the following 6 weeks, and that a settlement is made for payments and incurred costs. Planned study trips/excursions that cannot be canceled must be paid in full. The same applies to other expenses incurred by the school that can be linked directly to the student.

Other:

Traveling

The class goes on a four-week trip to Australia and Thailand in the spring term.

In Thailand we explore the country from north to south. We visit an orphanage in Chiang Rai, which is one of our aid projects at the school. We try activities such as cycling and bungee jumping in Chiang Mai. We take the PADI diving certificate in southern Thailand and check out the rich marine life.

In Australia we focus on surfing, including a four-day surf camp at Lake Tabourie, and enjoying beach life. While we are in Australia, we will also experience skydiving, a kangaroo safari and a trampoline park. Plans are made for day trips to Sydney, meeting with the indigenous people and time to be together.
